Man killed in house fire

A MAN has died in a house fire at Currumbin early this morning.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service officers responded to the fire in the multi-level timber and brick Domain Drive home about 3am, and found it already well alight.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus searched the home and located a deceased man while bystanders assisted an 80-year-old woman to escape the blaze.

Paramedics treated the woman and transported her to John Flynn Hospital as a precaution.

The man's identity is not yet know.

The home was destroyed and the cause of the fire will be investigated.
