Man pops up out of ute just in time to meet police

A VIDEO of a young man being sprung by police riding in the back of a ute on Windermere Rd, Bundaberg has proved popular online with almost 11,000 people checking it out since it was uploaded a fortnight ago.

The video was uploaded by the Queensland Police Service as part of their What The Friday series which shows weird and wacky encounters police have in the community.

The one-minute video shows a ute being pulled over by police and a man slowly emerge from the tray, lifting the hard top and looking around only to spot a police car and an officer strolling towards him.

The commenters on the video vary from the hilariously entertained to the outraged.

"Hahahahhaha peek a boo!!," one user wrote.

"What an idiot," another says.

"Very disappointing, especially for a P plater. As a paramedic, all I can say is their stupidity is my job security," one person noted.

The P plater driver and his illegal passenger were both fined $205, the driver lost three points and to add insult to injury, the man in the ute was told to get out and walk.
