
Man rescued after tinnie flips
UPDATED, 2.44pm: A GOLFER turned hero while playing a round of golf at the Tweed Heads Coolangatta Golf Course today.
The man, who did not want to be identified, jumped into the Tweed River about noon to rescue a man who was thrown into the water after his fishing boat capsized in strong winds.
Both men made it to a yacht that was moored nearby.
Tweed Police directed the men stay aboard the yacht until a Marine Rescue Point Danger unit could be deployed to pick up the men.
INITIAL REPORT, 1.40pm:
A MAN is being rescued from the Tweed River after his tinnie overturned today.
The man went overboard in the river behind the Tweed Heads Gold Club.
He was rescued by a fellow boatie and was waiting aboard the man's yacht for rescue about 1pm today.
