Man viciously attacked by mystery snake, authorities on high alert

A 32-YEAR-old man has been rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected snakebite.

The bite happened at about 5pm yesterday, an ambulance service spokesman confirmed.

The man was bitten at a Rainforest Rd, Tanawha property and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The spokesman was unable to give any indication of the type of snake believed to be responsible for the bite.

It comes as local snake catchers warned only a fortnight ago of plenty of brown snakes on the move across the region, as they seek out water sources.

Humid conditions are set to keep them active after the recent rainfall.
