Man sat on roof for five hours as two rescued from floods

TWO people have been rescued from two separate incidents of vehicles in flood waters in the Central Queensland region overnight.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to a vehicle in flood waters near The Willows, west of Emerald, just before 11pm.

An SES flood boat transported the woman to dry land.

At about 1.30am, QFES and Queensland Ambulance were called to a man on a roof of a vehicle in fast moving flood waters on the Gregory Highway, 10kms north of Springsure.

A QFES spokeswoman said a swift water rescue team was deployed to a single occupant in fast moving flood waters on the Gregory Highway.

"They had to wait a little bit for the water to lower," the spokesperson said.

"The person was sitting on top of the vehicle and the water was half way up the windscreen."

The man was retrieved about 7am this morning from the vehicle in waters near the intersection of Arcturus Rd and the Gregory Highway.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the patient from the The Willows incident (near the intersection of Billaboo Cres and Capricorn Highway) declined treatment from QAS.

The spokesperson said the man from the Springsure incident also declined treatment.
