Man shot in back with air rifle while mowing lawn

POLICE have charged a 31-year-old after a man was shot by an air rifle while mowing his lawn.

The 63-year-old was riding a mower in Jacaranda Dr, Laidley, yesterday when he was struck in the back by an air rifle pellet.

He was taken to Laidley Hospital to be treated for his injury.

Police attended the scene and searched a neighbouring property, seizing an air rifle and drug utensils.

A 31-year-old Laidley man has been charged with one count each of wounding, unlawful possession of weapons, authority required to possess explosives and possession of utensils.

He is due to appear in the Gatton Magistrates Court on March 9.
