Man sitting at dinner table for two days was dead

NEIGHBOURS thought a man who had died at his dining room table was simply asleep and only raised the alarm after they realised he hadn't moved for two days.

The 51-year-old, whose death is not being treated as suspicious, had been spotted in a chair at his dinner table with a plate of food in his Rose St, North Ward home.

Neighbours originally thought the man was asleep but called police when they noticed he had not moved days later.

Officers found him deceased after performing a welfare check on Wednesday night and estimated the man had died 24 to 48 hours before his body was found.

Residents living nearby were yesterday shocked by the man's death, only noticing something was wrong when police arrived in the street.
