Man stabbed in Australia Day fight at camping ground

A 41-YEAR-old man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed at a camping ground near Noosa late on Australia Day.

Police say about 7.50pm Sunday a fight began at a camping ground on Johns Road Cooroibah involving a group of men.

Police will allege that during the fight a 20-year-old man stabbed a 41-year-old man in the torso and then further assaulted him.

The 41-year-old Cooroibah man was transported to Nambour General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old Cooroibah man has been charged with one count each of wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
