Man allegedly knifed in overnight disturbance

POLICE are investigating an incident in which a 22-year-old man sustained a head injury at Gympie overnight.

Police were called to River Road about 12.45am, following reports of a disturbance.

The 22-year-old local man sustained a laceration to his face, believed to have been caused by a knife, as well as abrasions to his hands and knees.

He was transported to the Gympie Hospital for treatment.

Police would like to speak with a man described as Caucasian in appearance, proportionate to solid build, around 40 to 50 years old, 180cm tall, with a large beard and dark hair.

Investigations are continuing.
