Caloundra Rd reopened following head on collision

UPDATE 2.30PM: Westbound traffic on Caloundra Rd is flowing again following a head on collision earlier this afternoon.

Two cars collided head on in the westbound lanes about 1.30pm.

A man was trapped in his car for 40 minutes before he was freed and taken to Nambour General Hospital.

He had been trapped by the legs.

A woman involved in the crash had earlier been taken to hosptial.

She was suffering neck and collar bone injuries.

Both were in a stable condition.

The westbound lanes were blocked earlier as emergency services tended to the wounded.
