Man uses scissors to try rob woman at Kingscliff ATM

AN ARMED man is alleged to have held scissors against a woman and demanded that she withdraw cash from an ATM in Kingscliff.

Police are investigating the incident that happened when a 44-year-old woman was at a teller machine on Pearl St at about 5.15pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.

The man, described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 173cm tall with a chubby build, light-brown short hair and wearing a white T-shirt and coloured shorts, was armed with a pair of scissors and threatened the woman, according to police.

Police said he demanded she withdraw cash as he held scissors at her waist. The woman attempted to run and the armed man pursued.

Police said when two men came to the aid of the woman from a nearby bank, the armed man ran from the area.

The matter was reported to the Tweed Byron Local Area Command and is now being investigated.
