Man found dead in Murwillumbah garden

POLICE believe the death of a 70-year-old man in Murwillumbah on Tuesday afternoon was caused by a medical condition.

Tweed-Byron LAC Inspector Greg Jago said emergency services were called to a William St address about 5pm.

Insp Jago said a member of the public had found the man in a garden bed outside his home.

"Investigations at this stage indicate the male had previously suffered a stroke and had a medical history of cardiovascular disease," Insp Jago.

Insp Jago said it appears the man fell from the veranda of his home.

"Police don't believe there to be any suspicious circumstances," he said.

"Police are of the opinion the man's medical condition was the cause of death."

He said further investigations would take place with the man's GP.
