Marine Pde work back on track despite rain at Kingscliff

WORK on the Marine Pde upgrade is back on track after rain delays.

According to Tweed Shire Council, consistent rain since the project started on February 4 has put it about a fortnight behind schedule.

Public use of the new one-way configuration has identified some parking issues that the council was addressing with business owners.

Civil design engineering coordinator Warren Boyd said the introduction of a single lane of traffic, from Turnock St to Seaview St, had caused parking problems for motorists, particularly the parallel parking spots on the western side of Marine Pde.

"We are looking at lengthening those parking bays to make them easier to access," Mr Boyd said.

"A council crew has finished constructing the kerbs and realigning the path for stage one, a 120-metre section from Turnock St to the Kingscliff Beach Hotel, despite the rain.

"However, it has been unable to seal the realigned sections of road, which were also scheduled to be completed by mid-March.

Mr Warren said the council was hoping to seal the realigned section of the road in the next two to three weeks so stage one works were completed by Easter.
