Marine Rescue helps yacht return to shore

MARINE rescue has helped a yacht out of trouble on the Tweed Coast.

Marine Rescue Point Danger unit commander Glenda Ashby said the 30 ft yacht experienced mechanical and sail failure east of Cook Island just before 10am Friday.

"It's been very choppy," Ms Ashby said.

"They were forced to seek help from us."

Ms Ashby said their primary rescue boat went to help the yacht out, and towed it back over the Tweed bar.

"We took the yacht under tow and brought it back across the Tweed bar," she said.

It's understood everyone was safely back on shore about 12.15pm.
