Maroons blue as NSW hits green

THEY mightn't have the greatest rugby league team, but New South Welshmen can certainly bowl.

In a dazzling display on the Tweed Heads Bowls Club' indoor greens yesterday, skips Shane Garvey, Aron Sherriff, Steve Glasson and Leif Selby led NSW to a convincing 3-0 series win over their bitter rivals, to retain the “Wal Currey Memorial Trophy”.

Indeed there was little Tweed local Kelvin Kerkow, who skipped the Queensland outfit, could do to stop the annihilation, with Anthony Kiepe the only Queensland skip to register a win on the final day. However Tweed's Damian Bartlett was more fortunate in the under-25s, helping Queensland restore some pride with a hard-fought 2-1 series win.
