Marquee man backs Jets to roar home

MARQUEE Newcastle striker Emile Heskey is confident his team can finish the A-League season strongly, despite the Jets sitting in eighth place.

Tomorrow's New South Wales derby against Sydney FC will see both teams desperate for a victory, with the Sky Blues clinging on to sixth spot.

Heskey said his teammates had been on a high after upsetting table-topper Brisbane Roar last Sunday.

"It was an important victory for us," he said.

"We've been playing some reasonably good football and have been a little unlucky.''

Heskey has been hampered by injuries this season.

"It's just been one of those seasons. I've played for near on 20 years now and I can't say I've had a season where I've damaged both knees and have had back problems," he said.

The Jets will be looking for their first win at Hunter Stadium since November.
