Meet Mr Brown the master of the orchid who keeps on winning

KINGSCLIFF orchid grower Bill Brown has been involved with the delicate flowers for decades.

This week, he was the Tweed District Orchid Society's champion orchid grower. Mr Brown said it wasn't a huge shock.

He won all of the 18 competitions he entered last year.

"I started out when the orchid society was based in Murwillumbah," Mr Brown said.

Today, Mr Brown has too many orchids to count.

He said it wasn't difficult to look after orchids. It's just a matter of dedicating enough time to your plants.

"There's a lot of people in the Orchid Society who are very helpful," he said.

Mr Brown's favourite orchid is a new variety, which he recently bred.

On show

  • The autumn show is on today to 3pm at Jessie McMillan Hall, Wollumbin St, Mur'bah.
  • The club meets on the fourth Friday at Twin Towns Masonic Hall, Tweed Heads, 7.45pm.
