McKay to be fit for Coast clash
ROAR workhorse Matt McKay is making a brave bid to bolster Brisbane's exposed midfield in Sunday's A-League derby against Gold Coast United.
McKay was given little hope at the start of the week after being sidelined since August with a serious knee injury but has vowed to do everything possible to line up at Suncorp Stadium.
Brisbane are already without Massimo Murdocca (broken leg ), Henrique (knee), and suspended trio Charlie Miller, Danny Tiatto and David Dodd from their midfield.
Skipper Craig Moore will also be missing due to Socceroos selection, while the Coast themselves will be without star duo Jason Culina and Shane Smeltz who are also on international duty.
Roar coach Frank Farina said he would wait until match eve before making a decision on McKay, who debuted for the Socceroos last year.
Meantime, the club will not appeal bans slapped on Miller and Tiatto in the fallout from their controversial 2-1 loss to Melbourne Victory on Saturday.
Tiatto was hit with a one-match ban for his one-fingered salute to the Melbourne crowd while Miller was suspended for two games for “violent conduct” against ex-teammate Robbie Kruse.
