Meet the candidates at Kingscliff

RESIDENTS of Fingal Head, Chinderah, Cudgen and Kingscliff will be introduced to the candidates for September's council election at a 'meet the candidates' night to be held at Kingscliff Community Hall on August 22.

Kingscliff Ratepayers and Progress Association (KRPA) in collaboration with community associations of the various towns organised the event to give candidates an opportunity to put their plans and ideas for the shire to its residents who, in turn, will have the chance to learn about the issues and make an informed choice about the people who will represent them for the next four years.

Moderator for the night will be former Tweed councillor Peter Smith who will direct proceedings from 7pm until 9pm.

Vice-president of KRPA and council candidate Scott Sledge said who the candidates were and which policies they proposed was of great interest to the community as they were the level closest to residents and often represented the constituency at state and federal levels.

"Their decisions as councillors will affect our community long into the future.

"Kingscliff's future depends on informed voters choosing the best candidates," Mr Sledge said.
