Memorial garden to hold Mother’s Day service

FOR most familles, Mother's Day is a chance to show mum or grandma how loved and cherished they really are.

But for people who have lost their mother, they often dread the approach of Mother's Day, especially when their loss is recent.

Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens will hold a service this weekend to provide a serene and comforting environment for people who are grieving the loss of their mother.

The memorial garden's family service manager Lauren Morris said those who had lost their mother didn't need to grieve in silence.

"Hundreds of families visit our gardens each year on Mother's Day to place flowers or just spend time at their loved one's memorial," she said.

The butterfly-themed service will be supported by White Lady Funerals and will include poetry readings and a balloon release.

Ms Morris said anyone was welcome to attend with complimentary refreshments served at the conclusion of the service.

"If you would like to commemorate May 12, in the company of families who have experienced a similar loss, I warmly invite you to attend," she said.

The service will begin at 10am at the Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens on Sunshine Ave, Tweed Heads.

Onsite parking will be provided.
