Rachel beats Miss V8 rivals

THE chorus of cheers can be heard from breakfast tables all over the Sunshine Coast as Coolum's Rachel Borosak was named the region's Miss V8 Supermodel winner.

The 18-year-old business student and part-time model won the Century Batteries search for the Coast's entrant from 17 other competitors at the Sands Tavern last week.

While not a die-hard fan of the road race series, Rachel knows more about cars than most women her age.

“It's really an opportunity for me to combine my interests in marketing with that of my modelling,” Rachel said.

“I was really surprised that I actually won because there were a lot of great girls.”

Rachel may look like a girl who has grown up near the beach, but she is only relatively new to life by the ocean.

“My family moved here about four years ago from Brisbane, but I feel like I've lived here all my life,” said the girl who was also a Zoo Magazine competition finalist this year.

“I think it is good publicity to get my name out there and to get some confidence and some experience.”

The national final will be held at the Gold Coast in a few weeks and will involve a week long series of interviews, public promotion activities and modelling assignments.

“I think I've got a pretty good chance, my strength is the interviews but I'm happy to just enjoy the experience.”
