Mizzy and Bullseye make odd couple

RSPCA Wacol residents Mizzy (dog) and Bullseye (goat) can't live without each other and are looking for a home together.

ON THE day these unlikely love birds were surrendered to the RSPCA shelter at Wacol, staff were at a loss as to why they both hollered all night.

The following morning, a senior animal attendant realised what it was - the pair missed each other.

As soon as the pair was reunited, they immediately settled down.

Brought up since birth at a property on Jimboomba, their owners were unable to afford to keep them and made the heartbreaking decision to give them up.

Now shelter staff are adamant the pair should remain together - without one another, they are at a loss.

Bullseye is an 18-month-old desexed goat, while Mizzy is an 18-month-old border collie cross.

When separated, Bullseye will bleat uncontrollably and Mizzy howls non-stop.

RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said both animals were placid, well-natured and simply beautiful.

"They've got great natures and are just beautiful together," Mr Beatty said.

"It's quite funny because the dog seems to eat a bit of the goat's food and vice versa, they share their water, and sleep side by side every night."

Mr Beatty said when the pair was surrendered a week ago staff didn't know of their affection for each other.

"We didn't know anything until they were separated we realised what was going on," Mr Beatty said.

"We'd like to rehome them together, eventually they'll get used to being apart but it would be ideal for them to stay together for obvious reasons.

"Ideally a semi-rural property would be good, but probably not someone who grows roses.

"When we took them out for this photo shoot Bullseye demolished one of the shrubs - we turned around it and it was all gone in a matter of moments.

"But the good thing is they eat a lot of the weeds and stuff like coarse grasses."

Mizzy is a sweet-natured little mutt who wants nothing more than to sleep with her companion outdoors in a warm bed.

The pair costs $320 and they are both vaccinated, desexed, wormed and micro-chipped.

Visit them at 139 Wacol Station Rd or phone 3426 9999.
