More power and torque for stunning Aston Martin Rapide S

THIS week's blog is on a stunning brand-new 2013 Onyx Black Aston Martin Rapide S.

As you may or may not already know, the Rapide S is an updated version of the original Rapide, which first came to life back in 2010.

This particular Aston Martin is equipped with a 6.0-litre, 48-valve V12 engine which sits under that huge nose. This engine is able to produce 410 kilowatts (550 horsepower) at 6750rpm and 620 Newton metres of torque (457 pound-feet of torque) at 5500rpm.

This is a considerable increase in power considering the previous Rapide "only" produced 350 kilowatts (470 horsepower). The torque also increases by 19 Newton metres (14 pound-feet).

All this power gets transferred to the rear wheels via the six-speed automatic transmission with shifting paddles on the steering wheel for manual control. This particular model also has a kerb weight of 1990 kilograms (4387 pounds). This means it is about 50 kilograms heavier than the BMW F10 M5 and around 48 kilograms heavier than the new S63 AMG.

This allows the Rapide S to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour (0-62 miles per hour) in 4.9 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 306 kilometres per hour (190 miles per hour).

As I stated before, this Aston Martin Rapide S is the updated version of the old Rapide. When you first see the S model, the first thing you notice is the new huge grill, much like a Peugeot.

Then when you walk around to the rear, you will see the new deck lid spoiler molded into the rear boot lid. As I said before it also has more power and torque, and it also has a faster 0-100 kilometre per hour acceleration time and top speed.

Despite the enhanced power, the Rapide S has cut its CO2 emissions by 23g/km for a total of 332g/km.

Some other features that are equipped on this particular Aston Martin includes 20-inch, 20-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in performance tyres, speed sensitive wipers, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, xenon headlights, electronic brake force distribution and emergency braking assist, an engine immobilizer, a premium leather interior with front sport seats, an electrochromatic rear view mirror, Bang & Olufsen speakers, satellite navigation and much more.

You can currently buy a 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S for about $440,000.
