More rain on the horizon

TWEED residents can look forward to another wet week.

More than 50mm was detected across the Tweed shire in the 24 hours to 11am today and while the rain will ease tomorrow and Saturday, it will set in again come Sunday.

Weather Channel senior meteorologist Tom Saunders said there would be no beautiful sparkly Tweed Coast sky for at least seven days.

"Showers will continue today but ease this afternoon," Mr Saunders said.

"Isolated showers will continue Friday and Saturday and it will be partly cloudy and then the heavy rain will start on Sunday and continue until the middle of next week.

"There is the potential for some really heavy rain but it's too early to say exactly how much."

Temperatures will drop a little on Sunday and into next week with strengthening southerly winds dropping the mercury to 26 degrees.
