Mother's day for those departed
TWEED Heads Memorial Gardens will host a "Forget Me Not" themed mother's day memorial service for families who have lost a mother or grandmother.
The service aims to support families and individuals in the local community by providing them with a serene environment in which they can remember and pay tribute to their loved one.
Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens location manager Gaylene Adam said in addition to attending the service many people find comfort in leaving floral tributes at a grave or memorial.
"Some even make use of floriography- the language of flowers- to communicate a special message," she said.
"White roses for eternal love, bellflowers which mean "thinking of you" or daisies which symbolise faith and purity, rosemary or forget me nots for remembrance and others like violets and pink roses for faithfulness, gratitude and respect."
This year Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens will be presenting each family with a pink or white carnation, symbolising innocence, purity and a mother's love and attendees will also be given the opportunity to write a message to their loved one during a candlelight vigil.
The service will start at 10am on Sunday, May 13 at the Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens, Sunshine Avenue.
