Motor cavalcade farewells Bowley

ABOUT 100 hot rods and 40 vintage cars formed a funeral procession yesterday to honour a man who was highly regarded by fellow "rodders".

Brett Bowley was killed in a five-vehicle accident at Maclean on September 24 as he was heading to a hot rod event near Coffs Harbour.

Close friends and family said goodbye with a procession from Murwillumbah Showground to Melaleuca Station Memorial Gardens, Chinderah.

Mr Bowley was a member of the Tweed Valley Hot Rodders and the club organised the procession that drew hot rods from as far away as Brisbane and Sydney.

"He had tireless time for hot rods. His family and I think that's reflected by the number who have come out today," event organiser and fellow club member Rob Kaehler said.

"This is our first club member who was killed in a car accident and it's a tragic loss for the hot rod community.

"They (Mr Bowley and his wife Cindy) were both into hot rods, and they were both on the way to the Valla Hot Rod run."
