Brace for Italian invasion
THREE Tweed rev-heads will put pedal to the metal when a cavalcade of superb Italian automobiles descend upon Lakeside Park for the second annual Festival of Italian Motorsport.
Paul Young, Mel Cason and Barr Wise will push their pristine Alfa Romeos to the limit at the history-laden track as part of the final round of the 2010 Top Gear Racing Series this weekend.
Banora Point’s Young and his Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 will contest the race category, as will Wise in his Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, while Cason and his Alfa GTV 2000 will line up in the regularity category.
Young said Lakeside was a demanding circuit, known as one of the most dangerous in the country.
“It should be an exciting weekend,” Young said. “We are going to try and give it to those Queenslanders up there.”
Racing starts at 9am.
