Movies offer welcome escape from wild weather

SCHOOL holidays are always a busy time for cinemas.

But add rain and the release of 3 big kid's movies and you have rush hour.

Kids in there dozens have been descending on Hoyts Tweed City Cinemas over the last few days to catch new block buster's like Despicable Me 2, Monsters Uni and Epic.

The Pattinson family had just grabbed their popcorn and were rushing to get a seat to watch Despicable Me 2, all three kids very excited to see the latest instalment.

"Agnes is my favourite character for sure," said young Josh as he grabbed a handful of popcorn with a cheeky grin.

Ychelle Piatek, Duty Manager at Hoyts Tweed City has noticed a big increase in ticket sales over the last two days.

"We started getting busy yesterday (Sunday) and have been even more so today," she said.

"Rain and kids movies always bring in the families as well."

Every sales console was occupied by a staff member this afternoon when My Daily News dropped in to check how things were going.
