MP has 'no problem' with legalisation of marijuana

MEMBER for Dawson George Christensen is not opposed to the legalisation of marijuana but he says there are bigger issues in his electorate.

Mr Christensen made the national news this morning when a public conversation on Facebook with one of his constituents was reported in the media.

Speaking to the Daily Mercury, Mr Christensen said unlike many other politicians he chose to give straight answers when asked a straight question.

"I told him (the constituent) that I didn't have any problems with (the legalisation of marijuana)," he said.

"As long as it's done the right way.

"I hate the pot-head culture.

"But it already exists, perhaps if we regulate it - the drug part of it, the THC content - you could rein it in a little bit."
