MP wants carbon breakdown on bills

ELECTRICITY costs may rise up to 20 per cent with the introduction of the Federal government's carbon tax according to the Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker.

Mr Hartsuyker said Treasury modeling and industry sources suggest a price impact of between 10 and 20 per cent.

He has called for energy companies to provide itemised billing so that and small businesses can see how much the Carbon Tax is driving up the cost of electricity.

"People have the right to know what this Carbon Tax means to their cost of living," Mr Hartsuyker said.

"It is essential that the introduction of the Carbon Tax and its cost impacts are transparent."

Mr Hartsuyker said the Coalition would move to ensure bills are itemised, once Parliament resumed.
