Mt Burrell man was crushed by tractor while clearing land

Update, 5.02pm, December 26: A 70-year-old Mount Burrell man killed in a tractor accident on Christmas Eve was clearing land when his tractor slipped sideways, ejecting him.

Tweed Police duty officer Inspector Darren Steel said the man was working on his property with the tractor when it slipped and rolled on a slope, throwing him from the cabin.

He was crushed when the tractor fell on top of him.

The man died as at the scene as a result of his injuries.

 

Initial report, 1.17pm, December 24: A MAN was killed in a tractor accident at Mount Burrell this morning.

It is understood the tractor rolled over, trapping the man underneath it.

About 11.59am Ambulance NSW received a call to attend the incident at O'Briens Rd.

"There is a male patient who has been involved in a tractor incident," an Ambulance NSW spokeswoman said.

"Westpac Rescue Helicopter is at the scene.

"The patient has died from his injuries
