TOUGH Mudder will return to the Sunshine Coast on August 16 and 17 next year.

Those who signed up for pre-registration information received an email announcing the date yesterday.

Tough Mudder will again be held at Caloundra South.

"Stretched out over nearly 10,000 acres of wide open wilderness, Tough Mudder Sunshine Coast is the biggest Tough Mudder course on the planet," the email read.

"Our course designers had such a great time mapping out the obstacles at Caloundra Downs for the debut event this year, they've been plotting ways to make it even more impressive next year.

"Trust us, only the strong will conquer this one - better start your training now."

More than 24,000 people competed in this year's Tough Mudder.

At the time Caloundra Chamber of Commerce tourism and event chairman Bill Darby estimated that Tough Mudder pumped up to $10 million into the Coast economy in the weekend it was held.
