Mum and daughter survive t-bone crash into water drain

A MUM and her child were lucky enough to walk away from a dramatic crash without serious injuries about 3pm yesterday.

The 24-year-old women and her 5-year-old daughter were forced off the road and into a storm water drain after a sedan collided with their car at the intersection of Winston St and Haig St, Kirra.

"The women and her daughter were taken to Tweed Hospital as a precaution and I believe they were later released," Coolangatta Police duty officer sergeant Steve Quinn said.

"One male from the other sedan was taken to John Flynn (hospital) as a precaution, he was in shock."

Coolangatta Police are investigating whether a traffic offence caused the crash.

If you witnessed the incident call Coolangatta Police station on 07 5589 8444 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
