Mur’bah Hockey Club joins fight against breast cancer
Results from the weekend saw in the women's Waratah falcons play a very strong game to come out winners over Casuarina 2-1, largely due to theWaratah's goal Keeper Carly Paron pulling off some awesome saves to help give her team the win.
With both goals credited to Tara Rockester, these two girls were the stand out players for Waratahs, while Casuarina's single goal was by Kim Small.
The other women's match saw a really solid game between Murwillumbah and Kingscliff Sirens, but Kingy played well and came away winners 5-1.
This saw Kingscliff's Lorell Morrissy score a hat trick of goals.
In the men's matches in the Hard Court Hockey League on Friday night we saw competition leaders the Central comets come away with yet another win as they scored six goals to defeat the East Coast Sharks 6-2.
The Waratah Bobcats got back to the winners circle with a hard fought 3-2 win against the Kingscliff Stingers.
Next week we'll see the start of the Women's JH Williams Hockey League, with the Tweed teams combining with Lismore teams for one large combined competition.
This coming week we'll see the Murwillumbah Hockey Club host a Pink Day and night to raise money to fight breast cancer.
This event will be held at the main hockey complex at Brisbane St, Murwillumbah, on Friday May 10.
The under-16 boy's games will be followed by the Hardcourt Hockey League men's games at 8.25 pm.
We'll have the Central Comets up against the Kingscliff Stingers and at 7.00pm we'll see the Waratah Bobcats square up against the East Coast Sharks for some cracker-jack games.
The Comets will be wearing pink socks and the Stingers will flaunt Pink head bands as part of the Pink Day fundraising.
On Saturday May 11 in the women's matches the Waratah Falcons, who will be wearing pink singlets, will be up against Casuarina for the second week in a row at 6.25pm.
The second women's game is at 5.00pm and will feature Kingscliff Sirens up against Northern Star.
For the first game at 3.35pm Murwillumbah will be up against East Lismore.
These games are guaranteed to be very interesting to watch, with top-class players showcasing their talent.
We're hoping to see plenty of supporters on both Friday night and Saturday, so come on down and make sure to wear something pink and donate to raise money for the worthy cause of fighting against breast cancer.
Well done to the Murwillumbah Hockey Club for hosting this event.
