THE Murwillumbah race meeting for Anzac Day is on as scheduled after stewards inspected the track today.

It was a nervous wait for organisers after rain and a wet track forced the cancellation of race meetings in Murwillumbah since mid-January.

Tweed River Jockey Club chairman Bernie Quinn said he was upbeat about the state of the track and was confident the racing surface would be ready barring any further rain.

"The stewards came out and had a look on Friday, and they were happy enough with things then, and keeping in mind all the rain we'd had to that point," Mr Quinn said.

"The sunshine over the weekend and again today has done the track a lot of good, so it's all systems go."

"Connections locally are champing at the bit for some racing action, and we'll be here on Wednesday to provide it."

Like many regional racetracks, Murwillumbah lost several meetings over February and March to the big wet which wreaked havoc in northern NSW and south-east Queensland.

Wednesday's racing action is due to get under way at 1.23pm as part of a five-race card which includes:

• 1.23pm Coral-Balmoral Class 2 handicap 1800m
• 2.06pm Milne Bay maiden plate 1530m
• 3pm Murwillumbah services Club Cup Benchmark 45 handicap 1530m
• 3.49pm Maryang San (Korea) maiden handicap 1200m
• 4.45pm Gallipoli Benchmark 60 handicap 900m
