Mur’bah’s fast food frenzy heats up
THE old saying, this town ain't big enough for the both of us, probably doesn't apply to Murwillumbah's KFC and McDonald's franchises.
KFC and Eagle Boys will soon be joined by the golden arches in Murwillumbah, with construction of McDonald's' new franchise well under way on Tweed Valley Way, just north of the town centre.
Steel frames for the structure were already standing on the busy building site which was buzzing with delivery trucks and trades people bolting, hammering and welding objects on site.
"Construction is progressing as planned and the restaurant is on track to open by the end of the year," a McDonald's spokesperson said.
In the meantime KFC has stripped back half of its store front for renovations, but a company spokesperson said it had nothing to do with the competition coming to town.
"We have 55 stores and we are slowly updating and renovating them. The Murwillumbah store is having the frontage and signs updated, along with the car park over the next four to five weeks," a KFC spokesperson said.
While the work is being done the drive through is still functional and selling the full menu.
