Murderous comedy an Aussie first

MURWILLUMBAH is in the midst of a whodunnit mystery, with the Murwillumbah Theatre Company showcasing one of its most exciting productions to date.

Written by Billy van Zendt and Jane Milmore, Wrong Window pays tribute to the master of horror and suspense, Alfred Hitchcock.

Mr van Zendt and Ms Milmore have been among the most-produced playwrights in the world for more than three decades and have won multiple awards for their work as stage actors, producers and writers.

Directed by Julie West, Wrong Window opens on Friday, with shows on weekends throughout April at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre Auditorium.

“This is the first time the production has been performed in Australia,” said Murwillumbah Theatre Company media manager Rosemary Hume.

The play is a spoof on Hitchcock classics such as Psycho, Rear Window, The Birds and The 39 Steps and tells the tale of a New York couple who think they witness the murder of a neighbour in the opposite apartment to their own.

With multiple door slammings, body snatchings, frantic flashlight chases and a number of questions hanging in the air, the theatre company's latest production is entertaining for every audience.

Described by critics as knee-slappingly funny and wacky, the production is a unique murder comedy.

Tickets are on sale now for $15.
