SHE has been Prime Minister for less than a day but Julia Gillard is already gracing the walls of the Tweed River Art Gallery.

A portrait of the country’s new leading lady, by Victorian artist Kathleen Vafiadis, is once again hanging in the Murwillumbah

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd stood down from the top job this morning after a challenge for leadership by Julia Gillard.

Ms Gillard was sworn in as Prime Minister today at noon.

Treasurer Wayne Swan is the new Deputy Prime Minister.
