Mustangs remain unbeaten

MURWILLUMBAH Mustangs maintained their unbeaten run in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League

A grade competition with a convincing 30-14 win over Ballina at Kingsford Smith Oval yesterday.

In the Gold Coast Bycroft Cup action, defending premiers, Bilambil Jets, crashed to a 38-20 loss to Southport on their home track at Bilambil Sports Field.

The Mustangs victory was their fourth on the trot and they have a share of the lead on the NRRRL ladder on 8 points alongside 2011 premiers, Grafton Ghosts, two ahead of a cluster of teams on 6 points - Byron Bay, Ballina, Evans Heads and Kyogle.

In other NRRRL results, Evans Head snuck home 10-8 over Kyogle, Byron Bay tossed Northern United 26-21, Marist Brothers edged our Mullumbimby 26-24 and the Ghosts whacked Lower Clarence 44-10.

The Jets gave their all against Southport in front of a big crowd at Bilambil but found the visitors a bit too hot on the day.
