Murwillumbah to go bananas over rotary art show

THE art works are up on the wall and the Jesse McMillan Hall is ready for tonight's Murillumbah Rotary Art Show opening in conjunction with this year's Banana Festival.

Club member Geoff Smith is excited about the opening night and thought the art show was set to be a hit yet again.

"The quality of art this year is excellent, setup was finished yesterday and we are ready to go with about 130 entries," Mr Smith said.

Doors will open to the public at 7pm tonight and Mr Smith said he expected a good turn out with a $500 first prize on offer and the Banana Festival in full swing.

"We have Mayor Barry Longland opening the show tonight and the Banana Queens will be there as well, it should be a great night," Mr Smith said.

Tomorrow morning the Bananarama Day also kicks off at Murwillumbah Croquet Club.
