Mustangs rocket to top of NRRRL ladder: results

THE Murwillumbah Mustangs have climbed to the top of the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League (NRRRL) ladder after downing Cudgen in the Tweed derby at Stan Sercombe Oval on Sunday.

The Mustangs have now won their past five games in a row after starting the season 0-2.

After last gasp wins in their previous two matches against Tweed Coast Raiders and Evans Head, the Mustangs once again went to the wire, just nudging past Cudgen 22-20.

Tweed Coast Raiders fought out a 12-all draw against last year’s premiers Ballina at Kingsford Smith Park and now sit in eighth spot on the ladder, with two wins, four losses and one draw from their seven games this season.

Early season pace setter Marist Brothers have fallen from top of the ladder to fifth, after two losses in a row.

  • Tweed Coast versus Ballina: 12-all draw at Kingsford Smith Park, Ballina.
  • Byron Bay versus Northern United: 24-all draw at Byron Bay.
  • Murwillumbah defeated Cudgen 22-20 at Stan Sercombe Oval.
  • Evans Head defeated Marist Brothers 24-22 at Crozier Field.
  • Casino defeated Kyogle 36-26 at Casino on Thursday night.

Northern Rivers lost 22-8 to Riverina in the NSW Country Championships at Dubbo.
