Initial Story, 6.00am July 4: POLICE tape is draped over a car which sits on the side of the road near Uki, but police are mystified.

The red VW convertible is sitting just south of Uki, on Kyogle Rd and was photographed Wednesday July 3 by a passing Nimbin resident, who was unsure how long the car had been there.

Tweed Police are unsure of the circumstances surrounding the taped car.

A NSW Police spokeswoman was also unable to reveal the story behind the red convertible, but guessed the car may have been abandoned.

"It could have been abandoned and the tape is there to let people know police have attended, but that is purely a guess," she said.
