Naden 'armed with semi-automatic'
POLICE are warning members of the public to remain vigilant following new information that indicates Malcolm Naden is now armed with a semi automatic firearm and ammunition.
A recent breakthrough by Strike Force Durkin, established to investigate Malcolm Naden's whereabouts, has confirmed Naden is in possession of a .22 calibre semi automatic rifle and ammunition.
This firearm was recently stolen from a property along with other food items and clothing.
As a result, members of the public are again urged to ensure their home security and personal safety in the state's northern regions of Gloucester and Nowendoc.
Operation Commander Assistant Commissioner Carlene York said police were urging owners of firearms and ammunition in the area to ensure all weapons are safely secured in line with legislation.
"This is most concerning as we are aware of Naden's violent nature and his willingness to use firearms to avoid apprehension," Assistant Commissioner York said.
"Strike Force investigators will evaluate the information we receive and respond accordingly.
"We are committed to locating this violent offender and the release of this new information, although concerning, reinforces our intentions to protect the community."
Malcolm Naden, who is wanted by police for a murder at Dubbo and the attempted murder of a police officer at Nowendoc, is regarded as an extremely dangerous man and members of the community need to ensure the security of their home and their family's safety is a priority.
