Nans, pops go back to school
GRANDPARENTS were on display for show and tell at St Anthony's Primary School yesterday.
Excited students of every age brought along the older generations of their family for a day of music, games, morning tea and family bonding.
Principal Lynne Pull said the students could not have been more excited to invite their grandparents into their school life for a day.
"It was certainly a well supported event, we started with an assembly where classes did different items," Ms Pull said.
"One of the students read a poem about grandmothers.
"Then the grandparents got to spend time in the classroom doing activities with children.
"They did things like painting, readings and maths.
'The students were very excited to show off the things they were doing in the classroom."
Ms Pull said more than 200 grandparents attended the special day.
"We had grandparents who had flown in from Sydney and Newcastle or driven from Brisbane," Ms Pull said.
"It was lovely to see the older and younger generations interacting together and I think that is very important.
"The students were happy to show off the school. They showed their grandparents the new interactive whiteboards in the classroom.
"The grandparents were able to see how school had changed since they were there.
"It was a very natural event and both the students and their grandparents had a lovely day."
