Navy race cancelled

THE extreme weather has forced the cancellation of round four of the Queensland Navy Series at Maroochydore tomorrow.

Event media manager Sean McKeown said that while it would be nice to see the round four event rescheduled, the packed Australian Surf Rowers schedule may take the decision out of organisers’ hands.

“The management committee may consider rescheduling,” McKeown said.

“But it would depend on how soon weather conditions return to normal and the availability of suitable dates in what is already a very tight program of events.”

With the aussieBum Queensland Cup commencing in Southport next Saturday, at least one meet a week awaits the state’s top surf boat crews.

Local clubs Rainbow Bay and Currumbin both remain in the hunt for state and, potentially, national glory.

The carnival program for the remainder of the 2010/11 season includes the Gold Coast City Titles and the State Championships.
