Ned Kelly is as large as life

THE last thing you would expect to see as you meander down the river or stroll down the main road at Tumbulgum is Ned Kelly in full iron armour looking at you.

But that's the case, as many visitors have found.

Tourists by the thousands have marvelled at the sight over the years.

Tumbulgum resident of 15 years, Ross McLean has a life-size replica of the bushranger on his upstairs balcony, complete with bullet holes.

"We took him out into a paddock with a gun to get those authentic bullet holes," Ross said.

"I go to extremes because I'm an unashamed Ned Kelly enthusiast.

"I'm so glad to hear his bones have been positively identified.

"His remains should be placed in a museum."

Ross has a huge collection of Ned Kelly memorabilia including statues photos, pictures and coins.

He even ran a mobile food run a few years back called Ned Kelly on the Run.

The van sported images of the bushranger.

"Ned" has had three costume changes in the last few years.

But his sartorial flair is undeniable.

"Everybody knows Ned Kelly when they see him," Ross said.
