Never Land Bar to close its doors after one last hurrah
COOLANGATTA'S nightlife has taken a hit after an announcement that Never Land will be closing its doors after tonight.
The McLean St club announced this week that tonight would be its last night of trading.
The announcement came via Facebook on Christmas Eve, leaving regular customers with little time to farewell the popular weekend hangout.
Never Land has been a significant part of the barely-there Coolangatta clubbing community since it opened five years ago.
A spokesperson for Never Land said the club had been bought out.
"Unfortunately part of the deal with the third party has been to keep it as quiet as possible so we haven't been able to tell everyone as early as we would have liked," they said.
"After Boxing Day the venue that has housed Never Land for the last five years will shut its doors."
They said the plans for the venue were still unclear.
The spokesperson said while they would love to see as many people as possible join the celebration of the club's successful years, they would still have to stick to capacity laws.
"We can only legally allow so many in the building no matter how well we know you," they said.
The club spokesperson was thankful for the DJs and Bands who had been involved with the club over the years.
"You have all made us what we are today and it is sad to have to let it all go," they said.
The grand finale tonight will feature Diablo-V, Fletcher, BRVDLY and Riggas.
