New look fashions for Murbah on Melbourne Cup
NOT all the action on Melbourne Cup day at Murwillumbah involves horses, with plenty of excitement happening in the crowd too.
A highlight of the action is always the annual Fashions On The Field, one of the most keenly watched and entered events around the nation’s race tracks.
Murwillumbah fashions will have a new look this year and Tweed River Jockey Club’s Stephen Senise said the popular contest would be carried out with fun in mind.
“It’s been done differently this year and it’s not as formalised,” Senise said.
“Usually we have a strict registration process, but this time it’s going to be more laid- back and relaxed.”
The same categories as previous years apply, with a host of worthwhile prizes still up for grabs in different categories.
Competitions will feature giveaways worth $1500 courtesy of Tweed City, plus another $500 up for grabs in a fun-themed corporate area giveaway.
Fashions start at 2pm and those wanting to enter simply need turn up.
Senise said the approach could change, depending on the number of entrants wanting to compete, but at this stage intentions were to go with the new, laid-back approach.
