Former Home & Away star gives birth after cancer battle

FORMER Home and Away star Tessa James has given birth to her first child.

The 26-year-old made the announcement on Instagram today, posting a photo of her husband, former NRL star Nate Myles, pushing a pram.

She captioned the image with a quote from Winnie the Pooh: "as soon as i saw you i knew a grand adventure was about to happen".

James was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 23.

"I think that 'miracle' has come from the media and not from something that I've said, but in saying that, being pregnant is a miracle because growing a baby, it's pretty incredible when you think about it.," James told Elle magazine, in an interview about her pregnancy last year.

"When you haven't had children and you see mums and kids everywhere you just think that's normal.

"But when it happens to you, you're like, 'Oh my gosh, all these women have done this? Wow.'"

James has so far not announced the name or sex of her newborn.
