New sign is borderline mistake

UPDATED, 11.30am: Tourists and residents alike are confused as to a new street apparently located in Tweed Heads.

According to a Tweed Shire Council sign erected at the Jack Evans Boat Harbour, the Tweed Heads and Coolangatta area has a Border St.

The sign, in front of a partially built amenities block, clearly states Border St with an arrow pointing towards Boundary St, which runs from Griffith St, up to Point Danger.

Resident Dave Burdon said he had been stopped twice by tourists asking for directions to the elusive location and had instead directed them to Boundary St.

"I said to them there is no Border St," Mr Burdon said.

"They've done such a good job with the harbour and with all the money they've spent on it and nobody picked up they've got the street name wrong."

When contacted by My Daily News, a Tweed Shire Council spokeswoman said she would inform sign writers to fix the error as soon as possible.
